Cable Recovery
As well as providing the installation and maintenance of subsea fibre optic and other cable systems, Global Marine also offers a recovery service once cable systems reach the end of their commercial life. There is increasing pressure on cable owners to provide 'cradle-to-grave' management of their systems, and there are continuing costs in the form of way leaves if cables are left in-situ. We recover cable systems at competitive rates, including full land and near shore clearance from the beach man hole out to sea.
Using firmly established cable working practices, Global Marine is able to adapt quickly and flexibly to suit our customer requirements, from the shallow water recovery of armoured cable to clear territorial limits, or a lightweight recovery in deep water. All projects are performed to ICPC recommended standards.
Recent Examples
In 2006, Global Marine successfully recovered a total of six cables within UK waters, from the beach man hole out to the limits of territorial waters, using a dedicated land recovery team, an in-shore team with shallow draft landing craft, and the CS Wave Sentinel. Completion of the recovery was completed a month ahead of schedule. Our complete works package integration ensured seamless conduct of the operations. The recoveries were also monitored through our Offshore Liaison Service, allowing regular communication with the local fishing community, keeping all parties informed, and minimising delays and conflict.
