Test Facilities

 

Our international state of the art Test Facility is based at Global Marine's UK headquarters. Here we qualify new submarine cable joint designs and other subsea equipment and we are widely acknowledged as a world leader in this field. We maintain a strict policy of continual improvement, with accreditation by Lloyds Shipping, ISO and UKCAS

Products and Services

We offer a wide range of products and services that are easily adapted to specific and individual customer requirements. There are many tests that we provide and here is just a sample:

  • Tensile Testing: to ensure cables withstand the loads they experience in service
  • High Voltage Testing: to provide an accelerated life test for cable joints and determines insulation breakdown for cables
  • Pressure Testing: to simulate sea pressure to the maximum depth of any ocean
  • Sheave Testing: to simulate the shipboard deployment environment for the laying and recovery of cables, ropes, umbilicals and other cable types
  • Optical & DC measurements and data logging on any test: this monitoring of optical loss during tensile and sheave testing is a unique facility
  • Linear Cable Engine: to simulate the shipboard handling of cable/joints/ repeaters deployed in water and paid out at a controlled rate and tension
