Global Marine Showcases Oil & Gas Communications Capabilities at OffShore Communications Conference, Houston 2006
Houston, Texas: Global Marine Systems Limited, a world leading provider of submarine cable installation and maintenance services is making an appearance at the Offshore Communications Conference and Exhibition at Stand 139 & 140 at The Houston Marriott Westchase 7-9th November.
A number of the company's energy experts will be available throughout the conference to discuss its recent landmark offshore oil, gas and offshore wind farm projects; its capabilities in this sector and some of the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead for Global Marine in 2007 as it develops its work in the emerging global energy sector.
Commercial Director, Stephen Scott will be joining an Executive Roundtable, entitled 'Back to Basics: Trends in Installation, Security and Operations' on Wednesday 8th November from 11.25-12.30pm. Together with a number of senior industry representatives, they will debate why there has never been a greater industry need for operations automation for activities such as process control networks - particularly in light of the increase in the number of deeper water deployments and for the increasing number of new rigs being installed in emerging markets.
Global Marine has recently accelerated its work in the offshore energy sector, completing a number of landmark renewable projects including the installation work for Beatrice Wind Farm Demonstrator - a flagship offshore wind energy project for Talisman Energy in Scotland, and the cable installation project 'Estlink' for ABB, which will supply a HVDC link between Finland and Estonia. This project will also create a competitive power market between the two regions. Working with its joint venture partner, SBSS, the company was also awarded the installation contract for Saipem SpA to enable remote communication to be supplied to new gas production platforms off the coast of Papua in Bintuni Bay. This project is scheduled to begin during the first quarter of 2007.
Steve Scott commented: "We are delighted to be part of the leading Offshore energy conference in the world. Global Marine has extensive experience in the power industry - from oil, gas and electricity through to wind farm installations. There is much excitement and focus on the emerging offshore energy market and on renewable energy - we look forward to continuing our work in this area and partnering with leading energy companies to deliver more cost effective energy around the world."
Also in attendance at Offshore Comms will be: Joel Whitman (Corporate Strategy & Marketing Director), Ian Gaitch (Manager, Power & Renewables) and Ray Ragusky (Regional Sales Manager, Americas).
