100 more years of submarine cable

Global Marine presents Keynote at Submarine Networks World 2005

Chelmsford UK: Global Marine Systems Limited, the market-leading cable installation and maintenance company for telecommunications, scientific research, oil and gas, utilities and renewable energy sectors, will be delivering the key note address Submarine Networks World 2005 which is being held at the M Hotel in Singapore. The speech will focus on the future of the telecommunications industry and will be given on 21st September 2005

Gabriel Ruhan the Managing Director of Global Marine will be presenting ‘100 more years of submarine cables: surviving and succeeding in a dangerous market’ at 9am on Wednesday 21st September 2005. Mr. Ruhan will discuss how companies can avoid the mistakes of the past and maximise future opportunities in the recovering telecommunications sector. Mr. Ruhan has also been selected to participate in the conference’s CEO Power Panel, the industry roundtable debate entitled, ‘A glance to the past, a view to the future,’ which is taking place later in the conference.

“Following the difficult market conditions that have plagued the industry for the last few years, the under sea and on land telecommunications markets are finally showing signs of recovery, offering potential for growth and profit. However, the business environment we know today has changed almost beyond recognition” said Ruhan. “At Global Marine, we have adapted to changing market conditions the hard way – restructuring our entire business operations in order to ensure our future success. One year on, we are stable, independent and expanding into markets throughout Asia and in the Americas.”

“As the world’s leading global infrastructure conference, the Submarine Networks World conference provides us with an excellent platform to address our industry peers, share our mistakes and positive experiences from the past and offer advice about how companies in this sector can best prepare for a successful future in a fast changing industry,” he added.

Also, in attendance at Submarine Networks World will be members of Global Marine’s new management team: Stephen Scott (Commercial Director), Joel Whitman (Marketing Director) and Ian Douglas (Asia Pacific Director). Each will be available throughout the conference/exhibition to provide introductions and updates as to Global Marine’s current business operations and performance globally and specifically to talk about Global Marine’s longstanding commitment to the Asia Pacific region.

Now in its eighth year, Submarine Networks World is Asia’s leading and most established telecom event dedicated to submarine cable community. It has established itself as the leading global infrastructure conference, providing industry insight into the long term development and the commercial and strategic implications of regional and global networking requirements. The strength of its agenda lies in understanding that all the telecom access pieces combine to provide global connectivity.
