Kevin Widdowson
Captain Kevin Widdowson began his offshore career at the tender age of 13 and, in 1979, he joined Blue Funnel Line Trading, which took him to the Far East and beyond, including occasional missions to the West African Coast.
He joined Cable and Wireless (Marine) as a 3rd Officer and has focused mainly on plough installation projects throughout his career.
Kevin has been involved in projects as far-ranging as:
- Bermuda-Tortola II (First Fibre Optic Cable Installation)
- Mid Atlantic Ridge Survey (Investigating earthquake activity)
- TVH Project Management and Shore End Landing Support Ordnance Survey Investigation (Southern Vietnam).
To date, the highlight of Kevin's career has been breaking the record for the circumnavigation of the globe in 1998 on the Adventurer - a record that still stands today.
Kevin confesses to a serious addiction to flying and also speed sailing (when the wind blows hard enough!)
