Captain Shaun Beal joined Global Marine Systems Limited in 1989 and his first commission was on board the Mercury.
He has been involved in numerous cable installation and maintenance projects since joining the company, including the PTAT 1 and the TAT 11 lays on the Mercury, and in 1997 Shaun commanded the CS Cable Innovator for the FLAG project. This project was one of the longest cable systems Global Marine has been involved in – laying 17,800km of the 26,770km system from Europe to the Far East.
In 2005, Shaun led the team that buried the in-field cables linking Herne Bay to the Kentish Flats windfarm, and from the relative cold of the North Sea, Shaun’s next commission was to command the CS Cable Innovator for the Bahamas to Bimini installation in the warmer waters of the Atlantic Ocean.
Shaun is Yorkshire born and bred and is married with two sons.
