Captain Franklin Kitt is an experienced cable ship commander and has been involved in more than 50 cable repair operations.
In addition to his extensive repair experience, Franklin has commanded four installation ships and been involved in over 20 major installations. During his time with Global Marine, he has commanded eight of our cable ships.
Significant projects include PACRIM WEST (Sydney/Guam in 1995), which was the longest continuous submarine cable lay in history at 6,700 km where, during the installation, cable was laid to a depth of 8,900 metres in the Marianas Trench off Guam.
Additionally, Franklin has supervised the seabed ploughing of over 10,000 km of cable in water depths ranging from 10 metres to 1,200 metres.
Franklin lives with his family in Galicia, on the North West coast of Spain, and his interests include the study of seafaring history and discovery, where he is also a member of the Hakluyt Society.
