Fleet - ROVs & Equipment

Laying cables in deep or shallow water, retrieving them to repair them, returning them to the water, all have specific engineering challenges.

To be able to do all of these things quickly, efficiently, effectively and with confidence that the job has been finished properly, we have developed a number of remotely operated vehicles (ROVs), most larger and heavier than a Range Rover or SUV, to do the work on the seabed.

Essentially all of them have trench ploughing and cable burial abilities and are remotely operated by highly trained operatives on board our ships. Each one of the ROVs has individual attributes; the right tool for a specific job, depending on the type of rock or soil on the seabed where a particular cable lies.

We also have grapnels, huge grabbing devices to lift heavy cables up from the seabed and have developed unique technologies to overcome every ocean floor challenge imaginable.
