The Trainee SharePoint Developer is responsible for ensuring the efficient day-to-day operation of the SharePoint (internally known as Global Connect) infrastructure for shore and fleet by undertaking scheduled tasks and identifying any weaknesses in the existing systems.
The Trainee SharePoint Developer should work closely with the Technical Analysts, Support Technician and Head of IT to implement SharePoint projects that improve business productivity.
The Trainee SharePoint Developer must have a keen awareness of leading-edge technologies and be able to identify those areas that can be exploited by the business.
Working within a small team, they must be able to provide support duties as backup to their colleagues.
To administer, maintain and support the shore and fleet-based instances of SharePoint, both for Global Marine Systems ltd and its subsidiary company CWind.
To implement SharePoint projects as directed by the Head of IT.
To actively maintain and support the data synchronisation between shore and fleet instances by utilising proprietary technology – ‘Metalogix Replicator’.
To resolve SharePoint support issues reported to the HelpDesk system in an efficient and proactive manner, taking into account no-technical users.
Occasional travel to vessels and remote offices for support and project purposes.
To ensure that procedures, configuration records and relevant documentation are accurate and up-to-date.
To promote the effective use of SharePoint throughout the business.
To research, identify and test innovative SharePoint solutions that can improve the business.
Experience / Qualifications:
Knowledge of SharePoint and a willingness to learn more through both training and self-motivated study.
Experience in a ‘SharePoint Administrator’ role.
Understanding of Microsoft Technologies.
Experience in User Interface design and prototyping.
Keen attention to detail and excellent communications skills.
